Phalaenopsis amboinensis

Bought this last month from Uncle Hon. I really like this species a lot not only for their shape but also their potential in hybridizing. Just that i don't have much luck in growing them. My pal, acc, is doing very well with the common type (white base amboinensis). Hopefully this time round, things will be different.

I find ambo prone to rot, esp crown rot. ~isla

Didn't experience that but find them difficult to bloom.. Maybe the conditions are not correct. This species seems to like morning sun...

This orchid is one of my favourite ! They bloom non-stop for me, even those seedlings with 1-2 inch leaves bloom after 1 year or so when they only have 2-3 leaves.
